Mi Kis have soft silky hair which does not shed. It feels great to touch. As a Mi Ki parent, it’s quite easy to keep it neat and looking great.
When our puppies go home, 98% of them are in a natural puppy hair style. That means the hair has never been cut, except for around the eyes, between the toes and the rear end, sani cut. 98% of our puppy families keep their puppies in this puppy cut. If we have a Mi Ki puppy or young adult leaving our home, few of them may have a Mi Ki show cut where the face, head, around the ears, neck and toes are trimmed. Retiring adults will be in a puppy cut or in a Mi Ki show cut. No matter how they are trimmed, they have the lovely Mi Ki sweetness.
Like everything in life, there are several options or choices in grooming your little Mi Ki puppy. Mi Kis in dog shows must be shown with their head and feet trimmed with a #10 or #40 clipper (higher the number, the closer the trim to the skin). Show standard says a Mi Ki can be shown with or without the beard. We prefer our Mi Kis with a clean face without their mustache, especially on girls as it is more of a feminine look. We feel this is the most Mi Ki look, especially with winged ears. We also find this style keeps our Mi Kis cleaner as food and water does not get stuck on their mustache.
For fun and information, we have posted pictures of our puppies with different Mi Ki hair styles to demonstrate the different options families with our Mi Kis can choose. Mythic A New Sheriff In Town, “Sheriff,” our tri colored brindle boy and Mythic Winning Ways “Winnie” our white and fawn Mi Ki girl are the models. Either your groomer can do it or few of our families learn how to do it themselves as they love to style their puppy. Your groomer can refer to this page or to other pictures on our website when they are grooming your puppy. The most important part of grooming your little Mi Ki is to use a style you like. Remember, hair grows.
